In Thursday's draw for the second round of the EFL Cup, Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur, two of the top teams that did not qualify for European competition this season, will both have to start their new journey from this round of competition. However, their fates are very different, Chelsea will meet the challenge of AFC Wimbledon at home, while Tottenham Hotspur will have to face Fulham on the road, which has become one of the two "Premier League Civil War" games in this round.

Apart from the 8 teams that will participate in the European competition, the remaining 12 Premier League teams will start from the second round, resulting in two "Premier League Civil War" matches: Fulham and Tottenham Hotspur, and Nottingham Forest hosting Brentford. The last time Tottenham won the trophy was back in 2008 in the EFL Cup, and this may be the perfect opportunity for them to break their title drought.
