There was a time when Manchester United showed great interest in joining the Japanese goalkeeper prodigy Suzuki Saizen, however, a battle between soccer dreams and reality is quietly unfolding in front of the starlet, who is about to enter the threshold of 21 years old. According to the latest reports, Suzuki turned down a call-up from Manchester United and opted to move from Japanese J-League side Urawa Red Diamonds to Belgian side St. Tilden. Behind this decision is her concern over the lack of playing opportunities at United. After all, she doesn't want to miss out on the chance to represent the Japanese national team in next year's Olympic soccer tournament in Paris by waiting for her chance.
United manager Tannhäuser spoke highly of the 5'90" player as an ideal replacement goalkeeper and planned to bring her in for a transfer fee of £5 million (about HK$50 million). However, Suzuki Choyan is well aware of her situation at United and prefers the option of joining St. Tilden, where she will at least get more chances to play and stay in top form, despite the fact that the Bundesliga is not as competitive as the Premier League.
