Tottenham winger Lucas Moura said goodbye to the team as a free agent this summer, and according to 'transfer guru' Romano, the 30-year-old Brazilian star will soon return to his former home of Sao Paulo, but his contract is only until December, suggesting that he may return to Europe when the winter transfer window reopens in January next year.
Lucas Moura was trained at the São Paulo youth academy from an early age before landing at Paris Saint-Germain in 2013 and moving to Tottenham Hotspur five years ago. With the London side, he made 221 appearances and scored 39 goals, including a solo strike in the UEFA Europa League quarterfinals second leg in May 2019 to help Tottenham turn back Ajax and advance to the final. However, Lucas Moura's form has not been sustained since, failing to secure a contract extension after making just 15 Premier League appearances last season, scoring one goal.
São Paulo recently signed midfielder James Lodigues, who has played for Real Madrid and Bayern Munich, and now adds Lucas Moura, who has undoubtedly injected new energy into the team.
However, it is understood that Lucas Moura's contract with São Paulo is only for a short period of time, and that after the Barclays Premier League season ends in December this year, he will become a free agent and once again embark on a journey in search of a new owner. He is still reportedly eager to return to Europe for better opportunities.
