The latest news comes in that England star Jordan Henderson is set to bid farewell to Liverpool and embark on a new journey in the Middle East after agreeing a franchise deal with Saudi Arabia's Ittifaq. According to reports, the 33-year-old international will be offered a three-year deal with a total remuneration of £108 million (HK$1.1 billion) and a weekly salary of £700,000 (HK$7.09 million), a figure that far exceeds the £140,000 (HK$1.42 million) weekly salary he earns at Liverpool.
Jordon Henderson did not feature in Liverpool's warm-up match against Karlsruhe. In fact, he was given permission to be released after discussions with manager Jürgen Honess. Liverpool, on the other hand, accepted a transfer fee of £12 million (about HK$121 million) from Ittifaq.
Jordan Henderson's decision to leave Liverpool was largely influenced by Ittifaq's generous offer. It is reported that Ittifaq not only offered a high salary contract, but also hired Liverpool legend Stephen Sherratt as a coach, and the "Captain Fantastic" personally persuaded Jordan Henderson to join the team, and finally impressed his heart.
