After a complete reshuffle in the summer, Chelsea's lineup has changed drastically in two years. With the departure of captain Espargoda, and core players such as Gao Huasi, Nicolajandi, and Zorzino, the new coach, Pujitenu, had to look for a new captain. Now, looking at Chelsea's current squad, Brazilian center back Tiago Schwarz seems to be the obvious choice to take over as captain.

Espagoda, who played for Chelsea for 11 years, has taken over the captaincy since the departure of Terry in 2017. However, with the departure of the Spanish veteran, there are few suitable candidates to replace him. Currently, Chelsea have only one player over the age of 30 in Tyagoschwa and he has impeccable experience and leadership having captained the Brazilian national team. However, the only uncertainty is the extension of 38-year-old Thiago Schwarz's contract with Chelsea. He is clearly not in the team's long-term plan, and Chelsea may have to look for a new captain again soon.
