In the season just past, Premier League runner-up Arsenal made a lot of moves in terms of reinforcements, and at the same time, the team did not neglect the retention of core players. Recently, the club officially announced that it has extended the contract with 22-year-old French center back William Shaliba until June 2027. It is reported that the young player, who is 1 meter 92 tall, will be paid £220,000 (about HK$2.2 million) per week and his shirt number will be changed from No. 12 to No. 2.

In 2019, Arsenal brought in William Shaliba from Ligue 1 side Saint-Etienne and then loaned him out to other teams until last summer. The starlet has been impressive, quickly growing into a key player in the team's defense, contributing three goals and an assist in 33 appearances throughout the season. However, unfortunately, he has been out of action since his injury in March.

With William Shaliba only having one year left on his contract at the time, it was once rumored that Paris Saint-Germain were interested in signing him. Fortunately, Arsenal eventually managed to extend the player's contract, avoiding the risk of losing a core player.
