Barcelona, who have lost sight of the prospect of a move for Moses and are now targeting the return of another soccer superstar, have reached a preliminary agreement with Brazilian shot-stopper Nyima, with the only problem being Nyima's exorbitant salary, as revealed by veteran reporter Khaled Waleed of BeIN Sports. Barcelona are said to be applying to Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) for a short-term loan and want PSG to share some of his salary in order to complete what could be a shocking transfer deal.
PSG brought in Nima for a staggering 222 million euros (about HK$1.9 billion) in 2017, six years after both sides had reservations about renewing their contracts. Last month, Nima had offered to return to Barcelona and was willing to take a significant pay cut, but at the time, Barcelona coach Xavi made it clear that signing Nima was not a primary objective. However, Khaled Waleed in the last Saturday (1) of the revelations straight pointed out that Nima and Barcelona's transfer conditions have basically agreed.
Khaled Waleed further revealed on his personal Twitter account, "Nima will return to Barcelona if PSG agrees to share part of his salary. All transfer conditions have been finalized except for the salary issue." The French media noted that PSG are hoping to free up salary space to acquire new targets such as Bernardo Silva and Zouo Félix, and are also eager to get rid of Nima, who is paid €700,000 (around HK$6 million) per week.
