Real Madrid's core player Modi Li recently completed a one-year contract extension with the club, but immediately thereafter was caught in a sudden legal storm. According to ESPN, Modi Li and former Croatian national teammate Lovun allegedly provided false testimony in court, interfering with justice, and the two are at risk of being prosecuted. If convicted, they could face jail time.

Meanwhile, Mamek, a former top executive of Croatian club Dinamo Zagreb, has been indicted by the authorities on suspicion of embezzlement and financial fraud. Modilić and Lovun appeared as witnesses in court, but the authorities subsequently decided to prosecute them after finding inconsistencies in their testimonies and suspecting that they had obstructed justice.
