With Tottenham Hotspur missing out on Europe in the new season, top striker Harry Carney has become a target for the giants to compete for. A number of leading media outlets have confirmed that Bayern Munich threw down the gauntlet on Tuesday (27th), formally making a £60 million (HK$600 million) offer to Spurs, while a preliminary agreement has been reached with Harry Carney over his personal deal. However, Tottenham scoffed at the offer, considering it a great disrespect to the player, and preferred to let Harry Carney leave the club as a free agent next season.

According to media outlets such as Germany's Bild-Zeitung and The Athletic, Bayern Munich quickly threw out a £60 million bid for Harry Carney after reaching a verbal agreement on his personal contract, but that price was far from the £100 million ($1 billion) demanded by Tottenham Hotspur, and was therefore decisively rejected by the club. Tottenham chairman Levy is still banking on Harry Carney accepting a contract extension, but the worst thing that can happen is that he will be allowed to leave the club as a free agent next season.
