The Arsenal team, who experienced the loss of the Premier League title last season, have acted swiftly to set off a transfer frenzy this summer in order to continue their challenge to Manchester City. According to the British media, Arsenal will splash out a whopping £200 million (HK$2 billion) this week to sign three top stars in De Grand Rice, Xaviers and Zulian Timba in one fell swoop, aiming to complete their major reinforcement task before the start of pre-season training in early July.

Arsenal have reportedly reached an agreement with Chelsea to bring in German international Xaviers for £65 million (about HK$650 million). The 24-year-old young talent is currently on vacation and Arsenal have arranged a fitness test for him in Spain. He is likely to be the first player to officially announce his arrival, and sources have also revealed that he has already chosen his beloved No. 29 jersey. Upon signing, Xaviers will play alongside Bukayo Shaka as the highest paid player in the squad, with a weekly salary of more than £200,000 (about HK$2 million).

In addition, Dutch media reported on Saturday (24) that Ajax center back Zulian Timba has also agreed to join Arsenal. The two teams are negotiating on the exact details of the transfer fee, which is expected to total £43 million (about HK$430 million). The 22-year-old Dutch international, who is capable of playing as a right center back and right defender, is the Adidas leader's top target for reinforcements in the defense line. Negotiations between the two sides are said to be progressing well and the deal is expected to be finalized quickly.
