Manchester United's journey to bring in a new goalkeeper has already begun, according to Sky Sports Italia, the Red Devils are actively negotiating with Inter Milan, targeting Cameroonian international Oonagh. Onana's agent has also come to Manchester to start negotiations. Manchester United manager Tan Hagar has fallen in love with Onana and regards him as the "ideal" successor of the Triple Crown winner during the Ajax era, and the transfer fee is expected to exceed the 50 million euro mark.

Manchester United's star goalkeeper Dickia's contract is about to expire and an extension is yet to be finalized. Therefore, acquiring a new goalkeeper in the summer transfer window has become United's top priority. Sky Sport Italia further revealed that Inter Milan goalkeeper Oranje's agent, Gedinis, arrived in Manchester on Thursday to start negotiations with United's senior management. Inter also agreed to release the player, but the price is at least 50 million euros with a floating bonus. Inter are said to have started looking for a replacement for Onana, which is a positive sign for United.

Onana, 27, was trained at the Barcelona youth academy and later joined Ajax, where he won three Dutch League Championships under the guidance of Tannhäuser. The two have worked together for nearly five years and understand each other well. Tannhäuser's tactical system at Manchester United emphasizes organization, and goalkeepers need to have good footwork and organizational skills, which is precisely Onana's strength. At the beginning of the month in the UEFA Europa League final, Onana's outstanding performance against Manchester City won the high praise of Pep Guardiola, known as "the best footwork goalkeeper".
