In the Group F match of the UEFA Europa League qualifying round in the early hours of Wednesday morning (21st), Lukaku once again showed his heroism, scoring two goals for the Belgian team, helping the team to sweep Estonia 3-0 away from home. The Inter Milan striker was a scapegoat for the defeat in the UEFA Europa League final, but has returned to the national team with a new look, scoring three goals in his last two matches in Europe.
Lukaku also had a great performance in the last European Championship, helping Belgium to a 1-1 draw with Austria. Against a weaker opponent, Estonia, he was in no man's land, scoring twice in the first half. Unfortunately, coach Tedesco replaced him in the 69th minute, and Lukaku missed the possibility of a hat trick.
Toward the end of the match, 20-year-old star Zuhanbakayo added another goal for Belgium, completely crushing Estonia. Belgium is now in second place in the group with two wins and a draw in three matches.
Despite scoring just 14 goals in 37 appearances for Inter this season, Lukaku has scored seven goals in his last four games for the Belgian national team, showing breathtakingly good form at international level. With his loan deal from Chelsea expiring at the end of the month, Lukaku will return to the Blues next season. In addition, Saudi Arabian side Hilal have offered him a two-year deal worth 50 million euros (about HK$420 million) in an attempt to lure him over.
