On the final day of the Dutch Eredivisie (28th), Ajax, who was expected to compete for a UEFA Europa League spot, lost 1-3 to Kawardi on the road, and had to settle for the third place in the league, thus entering the Eredivisie Cup of the next season. After the match, the Ajax players were in low spirits, and Dutch international midfielder Behousse, on his way back to the bus, angrily rebuked a Kawardi fan, and had to issue a public apology afterwards.
Before the final day, Ajax was three points behind Yanhofen and needed to not only win the game, but also hope that Yanhofen would lose to Alkmaar. However, Ajax failed to compete and lost 1-3, while Yanhofen won 2-1 to qualify for the UEFA Europa League. As the Ajax players were preparing to leave on the bus, Behrouz suddenly rushed towards a fan and swung his fist at him, before being dissuaded by the security guards to return to the bus, a video of which quickly went viral on the internet.
After calming down, Behouz, 31, issued a public apology: I regret my behavior and I should not have acted in such a way. When we play away from home, we always hear a lot of attacks and threatening remarks, which we should be used to, but unfortunately some people feel they can say anything with impunity, I know that my behavior won't solve the problem, it was an inappropriate behavior, and I should be a role model for Ajax.
