Transfer clouds are rising again this summer, with Tottenham Hotspur fans eyeing up a departure debut. According to official sources, wing speedster Lucas Moura will opt for a free transfer when his contract expires. The 30-year-old Brazilian in his prime, who had scored a hat-trick in the 2019 Europa League quarter-final second leg to help his side make history, will have to bid farewell as his contract is not up for renewal.

Since joining Tottenham Hotspur from Paris Saint-Germain in January 2018, Lucas Moura has made 218 appearances for the team, contributing 38 goals and 27 assists. One of his performances, away to Ajax in the second leg of the 2019 UEFA Europa League quarterfinals, was a classic, as he scored three goals in the second half alone, including a stunning stoppage time winner, to help his side come back from two goals down to win the game and ultimately advance to the final by virtue of the away goal advantage after a 3-3 draw in the two legs. However, Tottenham missed out on the title as they were defeated by Liverpool in the final.

However, Lucas Moura's form has dipped in recent years, with only 13 Premier League appearances to his name this season. Tottenham rejected an offer of a one-year extension, deciding to allow him to "fall through the cracks" when his contract expires this summer.
