According to an exclusive disclosure by leading French sports media outlet Foot Mercato, Tottenham Hotspur's agency team for leading striker Halikani has approached Paris Saint-Germain's (PSG) sporting director Gambos to explore the possibility of the English shot-stopper joining the club. Given that Halikani has just one year left on his contract and is unwilling to continue playing for a title-less side, Tottenham could be forced to sell him, the team's goal-scoring king, this summer.
Since January this year, Halikani has made it clear that he does not intend to renew his contract with Tottenham. It is well known that he is eager to win trophies, but Tottenham's repeated failures to win various trophies, coupled with their failure to finish in the top four of the Premier League rankings this season, and their failure to qualify for next season's UEFA Europa League, have all intensified the likelihood of Halikani's departure.
Manchester United, Bayern Munich and PSG have all shown strong interest in Halikani, especially PSG, who are planning a striker overhaul this summer and are ready to drop their two South American stars, Mes and Nima, and are looking to bring in an authentic No.9 shot-stopper. Kylian Mbappe would be the partner in attack, and Director Gambos is pushing to bring in Halikani.
PSG have dominated the French domestic competition in recent years and are well placed to fulfill Halikani's title dreams. Although Tottenham had demanded a transfer fee of up to £100 million (HK$980 million), they are afraid it will be difficult for them to continue to ask for more given how little is left in Halikani's contract, or else Tottenham could be left out of pocket if he leaves the club on a free next summer.
