This season, Westham's record once fell into the abyss and nearly slipped into the relegation zone, however, the team has recently rebounded and not only broke into the quarter-finals in the UEFA Europa League, but also expected to usher in the championship at the end of the season. Lucas Paqueta, the high-priced midfield centerpiece, has been in hot form recently after half a year of bonding, but coach David Moyes is still harsh on him, believing that he still needs to prove that he is not a "water product".
Last year, Westham acquired Lucas Paqueta from Lyon for a whopping £51 million (about HK$500 million). However, the Brazilian international did not live up to expectations until last month when he burst onto the scene, scoring in three of his last four matches. Lucas Paqueta said, "It took me time to adapt to the pace and physical demands of the Premier League, I believe I am now 100% integrated and hopefully I can go from strength to strength, at the same time, I'm trying to learn English and keep improving myself."
