According to media reports, Arsenal have not yet started the contract renewal process with young talent Melanie Niels, who is on loan from Arsenal to Southampton this season, and seem to be interested in letting go of this player from the youth training camp.
Melanes, who has been with Arsenal's youth academy since the age of six, stepped up to the first team in 2014 and has so far amassed 132 appearances and scored three goals, The Athletic UK has revealed. During that time he has been loaned out to Yesil, West Bromwich Albion, Roma and, this season, Southampton. In the blink of an eye, he has turned 25. The midfielder and Arsenal have not discussed a contract extension this year, and both sides seem to have reached a tacit agreement to part ways peacefully.
Despite the buyout clause, the clause is irrelevant given that Melanes' contract with Arsenal is due to expire and he will become a free agent. However, Melanes is looking forward to the renewal offer from Southampton, stating: "I'll do my best to help Southampton stay up and stay positive every day until the end of the season and then I'll look at other options. I've been very impressed with Southampton and would like to stay if they make me an offer."
