Liverpool hosted Nottingham Forest on Saturday as the Premier League flared up with a goal-scoring battle on the horizon. After a thrilling battle, the Reds edged out their opponents 3-2 thanks to Diego Sousa's second of the game to climb to seventh place in the league, while Forest were unlucky to drop to 19th.

Liverpool continued the same lineup that beat Leicester City last time out, with Diego Sousa, Gabon, and Mohamed Salah forming a trio, while Forest got a "counter-attack" from Niko Williams.

In the first half, the Reds dominated possession but were ineffective in attack, the closest they came to scoring was a header from Wakil Emelik, which was sadly parried away by Keylor Navas' heroics, leaving both sides with nothing to show for their efforts in the half.

The resumption of the game saw the two sides go head-to-head, with Liverpool taking the lead on 47 minutes after an overhead kick was met by Fabinho's header from a second cross, which was headed home by Diego Sousa to break the deadlock for the Reds. Forest hit back quickly after conceding the goal, Nicko Williams fired a powerful shot from the right, the ball was blocked by Andrew Robertson but accidentally changed direction and flew into the net, making the score 1-1 on 51 minutes, which was also Nicko Williams' first goal in the Premier League.

Liverpool went ahead again on 55 minutes when Andrew Robertson's cross from the left was met by Diego Sousa, who was left unmarked and made a smart chest stop before flicking on a flick, turning and scoring with a low shot into the dead center of the net, with the Forest defender seemingly invisible throughout, to extend the Reds' lead 2-1.
