In a heart-stopping match, Liverpool and Arsenal played to a 2-2 draw. Throughout the match, Liverpool threatened on several occasions and even had a 12-yard penalty kick opportunity in the second half. When Mohammed Shah took the penalty spot, coach Jürgen Klopp was too nervous to look straight at him. As a result, Shah's shot went over the crossbar, and Klopp, who turned to look back, mistakenly thought that he had scored a goal, and unconsciously made the gesture of clenching his fists in celebration, and it was only when he was facing the pitch again that he realized that he had made a mistake.

After the game, Klopp recalled the scene and said, "I only watched the penalty back afterwards and at the time I was mainly concerned about the fans' reaction, obviously some of the fans thought the ball had gone in and that's why I celebrated. But when I saw that Shana wasn't celebrating, I knew he hadn't shot it in and that's what happened." In contrast to the celebration of the oval, Sana has managed to help his team score from three of his last five penalties, but his last two shots have failed to hit the target, a phenomenon that is of more concern to Klopp.

When asked if he would change his penalty taker, Klopp did not rule out the possibility of a switch: "I will discuss this with Shana, but not here in public." Rumor has it that if Liverpool decide to change their penalty taker, Brazilian midfielder Fabinho could be the first choice as Fabinho was the team's penalty taker during Mohamed Sana's participation in the African Cup of Nations.
