Argentine legend Lionel Messi's dream of playing in another World Cup seems to be rekindled! Recently, Argentina national teammate Cristian Romero has spoken out publicly, convinced that even at the 2026 World Cup, the 39-year-old Messi will still be able to shine.
Looking back at last year's World Cup in Qatar, where Messi led Argentina to victory, there were rumors at one point that he might retire, but Messi himself has said that the 2022 World Cup could be his swansong.
However, the Daily Mail report states that Romero, who is currently playing for Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League, has revealed that he hopes that Messi will also remain in the national team as he is in excellent physical condition. He said, "Angel Di Maria said he will remain in the national team and I hope that Messi is too and that he participates in the next World Cup, but it's ultimately Messi's personal decision."
Another Argentine national team comrade, Alexis Mac Allister, who plays for Brighton in the English Premier League, also said, "I have no doubt that we'll see Messi again in the next World Cup, whether he's 40 or 45, he's still the best player in the world!"
Aleister even added, "Messi is in excellent physical condition, his mind is full of wisdom and there is absolutely no problem keeping us running for him."
