After a 2-0 win over Ewarton in their Premier League home game on Saturday (8), however, the team's leading scorer Rashford suffered an unfortunate injury towards the end of the game and is suspected to have suffered a groin injury. Head Coach Tannhägger expressed his concern over the situation after the match and said outright that the intensive schedule scheduled by the tournament could have been the trigger for Rashford's injury.
Commenting on Lashford's injury, Tannhäuser said, "I'm not sure of the exact extent of the injury, but with players playing multiple games in a row in a short period of time, inadequate recovery will undoubtedly increase the likelihood of injury. At the moment we can't even determine the extent of Lashford's injury himself, we can only wait for further diagnostic results, but the outlook is not optimistic from the current situation."
Tannhäuser then directed his criticism at the fixture schedule: "While injuries are uncontrollable, fixtures can be adjusted. We only finished our last game last Sunday, followed by the start of a new round of games this Saturday, and we managed to reach the final of the EFL Cup before that, yet we are faced with such a tight schedule, it's like being punished for our success, which shouldn't be happening."
