Shortly into the second half, Tannhäuser replaced Anthony Mathias with Anthony Madill, a tactical substitution that was effective, and in the 71st minute, Anthony Madill scored an easy goal from a good pass by Rashford to make it 2-0. Towards the end of the game, United brought on the long-suffering Gisdian Allison, who was able to keep the win alive.
