In early spring, Leicester City bid farewell to Rogers, but suffered a number of setbacks in the selection of a new manager. First, they tried to get Parker to take charge of the club, and then the transfer negotiations with former Leicester United leader Mash were blocked at the last minute. Now, the club is looking at Dean Smith or former boss Martin O'Neill to try and get back to their former glory.

Recently, transfer talks between Lister City and Marsh looked to be on the cards, with rumors that the two sides would sign a three-year deal. However, renowned journalist Romano revealed that the two sides disagreed on key terms and that Marsh had doubts about the club's long-term plans, leading to an abrupt end to the partnership. According to the Daily Mail, Lister City expect to have a new manager in place before their next league match against Manchester City. Currently, the club is actively contacting Dean Smith, who coached Villa, as well as Martin O'Neill, the former manager of Leicester City between 1995 and 2000, who is expected to return to his hometown after 23 years.
