Paris Saint-Germain (PSG), who faltered in the last 16 of the UEFA Europa League, came close to meeting another Waterloo in the early hours of Sunday morning (12) in Ligue 1. Two superstars joined forces to save the day, with a late pass from Mays and Kilian McBarbee scoring to seal a 2-1 win over Bicester. Mays racked up 300 assists in his club career, while it was PSG's 3,000th goal in the top flight.

PSG, perhaps unsettled by their elimination from the UEFA Europa League, were locked in a tough duel against relegation-bound Bicester. Although Carus-Suna opened the scoring, Bicester midfielder Han Lorette equalized with a clever one-two late in the first half.

In the second half of the match, PSG intensified their attack but were unable to score, just like a blind man feeling an elephant. It was only in stoppage time when, thanks to a counter-attack, Mez delivered another fine assist to Kilian McBarbie, who beat the keeper to the finish.

Mez has contributed 31 assists since joining PSG, adding to his 269 assists during his time at Barcelona, bringing the club's career total to just under 300 assists. In addition, the 35-year-old Argentina international has scored 799 goals in his career and is next targeting the 800-goal milestone.

Kylian McBarbie's goal was also significant as it was PSG's 3,000th goal in the top flight, making PSG the 12th team in Ligue 1 history to score "3,000+" goals, a feat achieved in just 1,858 games, behind only Marseille (1,801) and Saint-Etienne (1,816). PSG achieved this feat in only 1,858 games, behind Marseille (1,801) and Saint-Etienne (1,816).
