After leading Argentina to World Cup glory and becoming a "god" in the eyes of the nation, the "King of the Ball" Mez has unfortunately become a target of intimidation by thugs. Last Thursday (2), Mez's wife, Logussu family-owned supermarket was shot, the incident shocked the whole country.
The supermarket is located in Rosario, the hometown of Mez. According to Argentine media reports, at 2 a.m. on Thursday, surveillance footage captured two unidentified men on a motorcycle appearing outside the supermarket's doors, firing at least six consecutive rounds into the iron gate. Even more chilling, as they fled the scene, they left a handwritten letter on a bag of charcoal threatening Mez: "Mez, we'll be waiting for you, Javkin (Rosario's mayor) is a drug dealer, he can't protect you." According to an analysis by a local television station, the incident may have been an attempt by the thugs to extort money from Meis.
