A French soccer legend, Fonteyn, recently completed his journey at the age of 89. In 1958, this soccer superstar was a shining star in the World Cup held in Sweden, and his record of 13 goals not only made him the top scorer, but also the player who scored the most goals in the World Cup in a single session, a feat which has never been equaled to this day.

Fonteyn's family released the news of his passing, but kept the exact cause of death a secret.Born in 1933, Fonteyn represented France at the World Cup in 1958, and his passionate clash with Sweden made him a star of the tournament. He not only helped France reach the quarterfinals for the first time, but also scored 13 goals in six matches, winning the Golden Boot and becoming the player with the most goals in a single World Cup. In total, he played 21 matches for France and scored 30 goals. Unfortunately, due to injury, he had to say goodbye to the field at the age of 28, leaving behind a monumental legend with only one World Cup.

At club level, Fonteyn spent most of his time playing for Reims, winning the Ligue 1 title three times, and in the 1959 European Champions Cup (now known as the UEFA Champions League) final, he played against Real Madrid in a summit match, although he eventually came second, which became a regret in his career. After his retirement, Fonteyn did not stop his soccer career, he successively served as the head coach of Paris Saint-Germain, the French national soccer team and the Moroccan national team.
