Brentford midfielder Anthony Evans has been the subject of a gambling allegation by the English FA at the end of the year. The 26-year-old soccer superstar is said to have publicly admitted to a number of the 262 gambling charges on Wednesday (1), and the FA is expected to launch a formal trial process soon. If convicted, Evantoni could face a months-long suspension, a major blow to Binford's European campaign at the end of the season.
In the Premier League this season, Ayewdoni has delivered a stellar 14-goal performance, just behind Aynin Sharamat and Khalilani. Although he was charged last year with multiple breaches of the English FA's gambling rules between 2017 and 2021, he is not believed to have placed bets on the matches he was involved in. Nonetheless, his actions were still in breach of the rules and involved 262 counts. Ayuntoni has now pleaded guilty to some of the charges and is mentally prepared for a lengthy suspension.
With reference to historical cases, suspensions for gambling violations are usually measured in months. For example, in 2019, Jebbia was suspended for two-and-a-half months and fined £70,000 for providing inside information; Zurbaten was charged in 2016 with betting on 1,260 matches over a 10-year period, and was ultimately suspended for one-and-a-half years and chose to retire; and in 2018, Sturridge was suspended for four months for allegedly betting on transfers.
According to The Sun, the English FA is expected to hear Ai Yun Dongni in a few weeks, and the suspension may be imposed before the end of the season, which will undoubtedly add insult to injury to Binford's plans to hit the European tournaments. In addition, Ayuntoni was originally seen as an important member of the England national team for the Europa League outings in March and June, but this gambling incident could have far-reaching effects on his national team career.
