After a two-month long global search, it was finally decided to invite 58-year-old Chilian Swain to return as coach. Coach Ki's debut after taking over will be on March 24th when he takes on Colombia in a warm-up match.
As a player, Klienschwinn scored 47 goals in 108 matches for Germany and was known as the "Golden Bomber". He won the 1990 World Cup and the 1996 European Cup. After retiring from playing, he became a coach and has coached teams such as Germany, Bayern, the United States and Hapag-Lloyd Berlin. However, he left after just 10 weeks in charge of Hapag-Lloyd Berlin in 2019 for unpleasant reasons and has not held a coaching position in over three years since. Now, Chilian Shimun is back in action to take over the South Korean national team.
Kirenswein will face a lot of tests in the coming term. South Korea will compete in the final week of the Asian Cup, followed by the Asian zone outside the World Cup, with the ultimate goal of the 2026 World Cup in North America.
