On Friday night in the Saudi Arabian League, Cron finally delivered his first goal for Ainas FC since joining the club. The Portuguese soccer superstar ended a 99-day official club goal drought by scoring from the penalty spot in extra time to help Ainas shake hands with Efate 2-2 away from home.
This was Crown's third appearance for Ainas, with the previous two coming to naught and the team's record standing at just one win and one loss. Ainas fell behind in the first 12 minutes of the match, before equalizing late in the first half with a goal from Talisca. In the 58th minute, Ainas conceded again, and then went on the offensive, but it was not until stoppage time that the team was awarded a penalty kick, which was converted by Crown himself, making the score 2-2.
Cron had 4 shots on goal in the match, and in addition to the penalty kick, one hit the crossbar. Towards the end of the match, Cron's complaint about his opponent's delay triggered a clash between the two players, resulting in him being shown a yellow card by the referee.
After the match, Cron posted on social media that he was very happy to score his first goal in the Saudi League and appreciated the hard work of the whole team. He believes that it was this effort that led them to a draw in a tough game, and with Cron's 38th birthday coming up, this goal was certainly the best birthday present he could have received.
