The newest addition to the Manchester United squad, Dutch star Weghese, has been put into training and has shown remarkable athleticism. He is predicted to make his debut for United in the Premier League match against Crystal Palace in the early hours of Thursday (19). Head coach Tannhäuser revealed that he has known and followed Weghergs since he was 16 years old and is convinced that he can bring a significant boost to the team.
Since Cron's departure from the team, Tannhäuser has been searching for a suitable striker to fill the void in the lineup. In the end, he opted for Weggerghese, and has nothing but praise for the 30-year-old fellow Dutchman: "From the time I knew him as a 16-year-old, I knew he could surprise wherever he went. Although he was a bit of an underachiever during his time with Bonny, it was only for a short period of time. He has an indomitable fighting spirit and can make a difference in both attack and defense, which is exactly the type of player I want to bring in."
The 1'97" Wegeghese appeared in 20 Premier League games for Generali last season, scoring just two goals. However, in his half-season on loan at Turkish side Bisidas this season, he made 18 appearances, scoring nine goals, and came off the bench to score twice in the Netherlands' stunning World Cup last-eight match against Argentina.
Although United's No. 7 shirt is currently vacant, Weggerhaeuser doesn't intend to be "Cron's replacement" and has opted for the No. 27 jersey.
