Romeo Beckham, the second son of soccer superstar David Beckham, officially joined Brentford B in the Premier League on loan this month. Today, Romeo made his debut as a substitute, although he seemed to shine less brightly than his much-heralded father on the sidelines.
Brentford were away to Erith & Leigh today and there was only supposed to be a crowd of around 160 in the stadium, however the fixture attracted 553 fans plus 554 late arrivals. The crowd was there to witness the appearance of Romeo and Beckham. Romeo's father, Beckham, was soon spotted by attentive fans as he cheered on his son, dressed in black, and was soon surrounded by enthusiastic fans who came forward to catch a glimpse of the soccer prodigy.
Faced with a passionate fan following, Beckham ended up leaving the game early in the grass, leaving a slightly awkward scene.
Romeo didn't disappoint his father as he was in action in his first game in the Premier League. He came on as a substitute in the 55th minute and delivered a pinpoint cross from the right.
After the game, Head Coach Neil McFarlane had nothing but praise for Romeo's performance, "He was amazing and settled into the culture of the team so quickly that he has every reason to be proud of his debut."
