The FA Cup has always been a cold arena, and this year's tournament is even colder, with eight Premier League teams meeting their Waterloo in the third round, a record high in the last 15 years. Stepanage's Jimmy Llette scored from the penalty spot in the 88th minute of the game, followed by Dien Gambo's follow up shot two minutes later to help Stepanage beat Villa 2-1 in a come-from-behind victory.
Aston Villa lost to fourth division opposition in the FA Cup for the first time as a top flight side since 1964, while recording an embarrassing eight consecutive FA Cup defeats in England.
In addition to Aston Villa, eight Premier League teams - Everton, Crystal Palace, Bolton, Nottingham Forest, Binford, Newcastle United and Chelsea - also stopped in the third round, making it the most Premier League teams to go out in the third round of the FA Cup in England since the 2007/08 season.
