The Premier League's underperforming teams this season
Chelsea
, have fired back-to-back shots in the winter transfer window, welcoming Brazilian starlet Anzu Santos following his first two reinforcements. The 18-year-old midfielder joined for a transfer fee of £11 million, but the striker problems facing the team don't seem to have been alleviated by his arrival.
Anzu Santos, a former standout of Wasco's youth camp, was promoted to the first team last January and was a key player in the team's successful promotion push last season, contributing 8 goals in 36 appearances in the Barclays Premier League B. However, jumping up from the Barclays Premier League to the Premier League's top tier is certainly a question mark over his ability to adapt. Fortunately, Chelsea have an experienced Brazilian player in Thiago Silva, who may be able to help the youngster integrate into the team more quickly.
In addition to Anzu Santosh, Chelsea previously signed Modi striker David Cofinna for £8 million and acquired Monaco defender Benoit Badiachouni for £35 million. The three lines of the lineup have been supplemented, but the team has serious injury problems, wing Stauning, Keith Plessy, midfielder Mason Monty, striker Bucha are plagued by injuries, Aubameyang's form is in the doldrums, and the three new recruits need time to get used to each other, so it seems that it will be difficult for Chelsea to turn around the tide in the short term.
