In the 2022/23 season, historically, the World Cup soccer tournament was divided into two half seasons. The EFL League (which includes the Championship, League One and League Two), which has eight more rounds than the Premier League, snatched the new season at the end of July and kicked off at the same time as the Community Shield tournament.
As Premier League teams fall to the Championship, see how Watford, Norwich City can bounce back.
The rise of Championship teams to the Premier League has been particularly impressive for Fulham, Bournemouth and Nottingham Forest, who are back in the Premier League after 23 years.
This season, relegated teams from the Premier League such as General Lloyd, Watford and Norwich City, play-off failures Huddersfield, Sheffield United and Luton, and promoted teams from League One Wigan Athletic, Rotherham and Sunderland are eager to get back into the Premier League, or at least avoid relegation, but this is certainly a challenging race to get back into the game.
However, unlike in the past, with the Qatar World Cup and the passing of Queen Elizabeth II in this season's fixtures, it is unknown how this World Cup extravaganza will affect the fortunes of these Championship teams.
