This year's World Cup came to an end with the jury still out on whether it was the most glorious ever, but it was undoubtedly the most prolific, with a whopping 172 total goals scored, surpassing 1998 and 2014 by just one goal, setting a new record for the most goals scored in a single World Cup.

The final between Argentina and France was a 3-3 draw until extra time, a thrilling match that made it seem like a dream come true and a rare big deal. In fact, most of the matches in this year's World Cup had a high number of goals scored, and there were even extreme scores from time to time, such as England's 6-2 win over Iran, Spain's 7-0 win over Costa Rica, and Cameroon's 3-3 draw with Serbia.

Although France finished second, they had the best offense of all the teams, scoring 16 goals in seven matches. Costa Rica, on the other hand, conceded the most goals, 11 in total, and the Central American team contributed significantly to the "creation of goals".
