The Argentine fans seem to be still traumatized by the 3-4 loss to France in the last 16 of the last World Cup. Not long ago, they publicly expressed their displeasure on live television, singing racially charged songs into the camera and taunting the French team, which consisted of almost exclusively players of African descent, including even France's number one player, Kilian McBarbie.
Argentinean sports channel TyC Sports interviewed fans who traveled to Qatar to cheer on Argentina during the World Cup, however, the fans suddenly sang a racially charged song mocking the French team for being almost exclusively African, an act that led to the interruption of the live program. The lyrics of the song read: "They play in France, but they are from Angola. France favors players like McBarbie, whose mother is Nigerian and father Cameroonian, but whose nationality is French.
France managed to win the last World Cup, beating Argentina 4-3 in the round of 16, with Kilian McBarbie contributing two goals and an assist, and it's no wonder Argentine fans still hold a grudge against him.
In addition, France striker Benzema pulled out of the World Cup due to injury during training, and manager Dee Gans acknowledged that the loss of the starter has had an impact on the team's attacking force, but said decisively that he would not be adding another striker: the reason is simple: because I've already made up my mind.
