In a marquee World Cup Group A clash, the Netherlands and Senegal engaged in a sparkling contest. Thanks to the excellent play of Gap and Carachen late in the game, the Orange Army got their campaign off to a good start with a 2-0 victory, ending their eight-year World Cup drought.

Prior to the match, Senegal's top scorer Shadio Vinny was unfortunate to withdraw from the match, while the Dutch side's top scorer Dibi was forced to sit on the bench due to injury. In the first half, both sides looked cautious, testing out their attacks and defenses. Holland's most threatening attack came from Frankie Dijon, who shot from an open position, but unfortunately the shot was not powerful enough to complete the breakthrough. Senegal's Ismael Nashaya also launched a powerful attack, cutting in from the left and shooting at the center of the goal, but fortunately, Wakil Yundjak's header was cleared away, and both sides were scoreless in the first half.

In the second half, Diby came out with an injury to try and save the day. However, Frankie Dijon came close with a mistake at the back, which was broken up by Nambaswendi and Paunardia. Luckily, goalkeeper Anders Norberg made a heroic save to avert the danger. Senegal's Izou Chagour then fired a powerful shot that was also blocked by Andersnobel and the Netherlands were able to keep a clean sheet.
