Pep Guardiola, the manager of Manchester City, revealed in a surprise press conference that the team's number one striker, Harland, will miss Wednesday's crucial Champions League clash at home to Sevilla due to injury.

Looking back at last week's Champions League fixture, Harland was unlucky to pick up an injury against his old club Borussia Dortmund and has since missed out on the Premier League.

The Norwegian shot-stopper's situation was the first question asked at the Tuesday press conference attended by Pep Guardiola.

Guardiola revealed, "Compared to Saturday, Sunday and Monday, his recovery has improved. Steady progress every day, but not yet at 100% fitness. Out of caution, we decided not to risk him on the pitch. We look forward to his return against Fulham."

Despite City's top spot in Group G, the match is a must-see for Guardiola: "It's a good opportunity to improve the team, I need to see which players will start, and those who rarely play will get a chance to show what they can do."

With Harland unavailable, Alvarez will fill in at No. 9. Guardiola has high hopes for him, "He has the ability to achieve self-improvement like any other player. He has integrated well into the team, he respects everyone, is humble and has an impeccable work ethic."
