In the heat of the summer, Sebastian Hernandez, who moved to Dormont from Ajax, was unfortunate enough to be diagnosed with testicular cancer during a pre-season check-up. The 28-year-old striker, who miraculously overcame the illness after a grueling ordeal of surgery and chemotherapy, has returned to seventy percent fitness and is now raring to return to training.
Hernandez has made 66 appearances and scored 47 goals during his time with Ajax, including 11 solo goals in the last Europa League. As a result, Dormont splashed out €31 million to bring in the Ivorian international in order to replace the departing Aynin Chalainte. However, he suffered such an unfortunate turn of events during pre-season training that his career seemed to be in terminal decline.
