In the early hours of Thursday (27th), Liverpool beat Ajax 3-0 in a UEFA Group A match, successfully locking up a place in the last 16 in the final round. Known as the "Red Army", striker Darwin Nunes showed his unique dual character of "angel and devil" in this game. In the first half of the match, he hit the post when facing an open goal, but fortunately, he managed to score in the second half to save his face, and coach Gopo highly praised his outstanding performance.

Liverpool played in a 4-4-2 formation, with Darwin Nunes and Mohamed Sana partnering up front. Despite Ajax's offensive attacks in the early stages of the match, Liverpool did not get caught up in the game. After a solid defense, the team launched a counter-attack, and in the 42nd minute, Sana took a precise pass from Jordan Henderson and scored with a clever shot. Before returning to the dressing room, Liverpool had a chance to add to their lead, but Roberto Falmino missed a chance when he passed the ball to Nunes, who was facing an open goal, but Nunes hit the post.

Liverpool's form picked up in the second half, with Newnes scoring a header from a corner kick in the 49th minute, followed by another goal from Javier Aiello three minutes later, helping Liverpool to a 3-0 win and advance to the last round of the UEFA Europa League. This is the sixth consecutive year that Coach Gopp has guided his team to the UEFA Europa League Round of 16, and he was full of praise for Nunes' performance after the match, "He was outstanding in both defense and offense." Andrew Robatson also revealed that Nunes showed remorse in the dressing room after missing an open goal chance, but eventually redeemed himself by scoring.
