Liverpool legend Flanagan, 29, announced his retirement from football on his personal social media platforms after suffering from a long-term knee injury.

Fanagan started his career at Liverpool's youth academy and played for the famous "Reds" for 8 years, making 51 appearances and contributing 1 goal and 5 assists. During this time, he had the honor of representing the England national team once. In his last two years at Liverpool, he spent time on loan at Gurney's and Bowdon, before moving to Rangers in 2018 and then Charnel, before ending his career at HB K?ge in Denmark.

In his retirement speech, Fanagan wrote fondly, "For the past 14 months, I have been working hard to recover from knee surgery. I had to make this difficult decision for the sake of my future health. Since I was a child, my dream has been to play soccer for a living and today, I can proudly say that my dream has come true. I have captained Liverpool and played for the national team, and these memories will stay with me for the rest of my life."

Liverpool officials have given their blessing to Finagan's retirement, but the statement has been met with strong opposition from fans and has even been removed. The reason for this is that Finagan had been sentenced to a 12-month community service order for assaulting his girlfriend and was required to take part in 15 days of rehabilitation activities and 40 hours of social services.
