The 0-0 draw was the Red Devils' 31st in the Premier League since Ferguson's retirement in 2013, setting a record for the most draws in the same period. In the match, debutant C Ronaldo had a chance to score in the second half but was controversially blown offside and even received a yellow card when he complained about the referee in a sobering manner.

He thought Fabian Schuha's pass was tantamount to a kick-off, but referee Parkinson didn't agree with him and ruled it offside, and Cristiano Ronaldo protested and received a yellow card for his protests.

Head Coach Eddie Howe, on the other hand, was firmly in favor of the referee: I saw it as well, the whole thing was clear, Fabian Schuha didn't kick off, he just passed the ball to Nick Puppy. At the time C Ronaldo was blocking Nick Purby, who was waiting for the referee to blow his whistle, and it would have been really hard to accept that a goal was awarded in those circumstances.
