On Monday morning, the White Leighton club broke the silence with news that shocked the football world: 24-year-old central midfielder, Mayweather Park, had to make the difficult decision - to end his career early - after being diagnosed with a genetic heart condition.

Back on that trip to Zambia when Mavipok was on the international circuit, he first felt the discomfort. After some tests, the hereditary disease, which had previously shown no signs, surfaced. The doctor's advice was that if he continued to compete at a high level of intensity, he would face a fatal risk. In the face of this harsh reality, he chose to hang up his boots and end his short playing career.

The decision was announced by the Brighton club along with Mevipark. In delivering his testimonial, Mevipark's voice was filled with emotion: a small town boy from Chambishi, to announce to the world that I pursued my dream of playing soccer at the highest level, and with God's blessing, I stepped into the Premier League.

However, the wings of the dream were broken by the harsh reality. It pains me to announce that I am forced to leave the field due to medical advice. But this is not the end of my soccer career, I will continue to be with soccer in another way.

I would like to thank all the people who have supported me in my soccer journey including my wife, family, agency, Zambia Football Association, clubs, teammates and coaches, and everyone in Bradenton.

Mevipark, a young player who got his start in Salzburg in 2017, joined Baillyton last summer for a fee of €23 million. In his debut season, he made 23 appearances, scoring three goals, and contributed six goals in 24 appearances for his national team.
