Former Spanish international and legendary Real Madrid goalkeeper Casnas boldly came out on Twitter on Sunday (9), with the now-retired soccer superstar confessing: "I want people to respect me, I'm a gay man". It was an eye-opening statement. His former Spanish teammate and Barcelona star Peyraud also left a message of encouragement under his post: It's time to tell our story.

Kasnas, 41, was once married to Sarah, a well-known journalist, and the two were in the media spotlight when they embraced during their 2010 World Cup win. They had two children but sadly divorced last year. Although Casnas and Pérez played for rivals Real Madrid and Barcelona respectively during their playing days, they were inseparable teammates in the Spanish national team, helping the Raging Bulls to win the 2008 European Cup and the 2010 World Cup.

The news has suddenly gone quiet after numerous media outlets have been all over the news. There were reports that Kasnas decided to satirize the media by coming out of the closet because he was unhappy with the recent hype surrounding his scandal in the Spanish media. However, St. Cas then updated the message to say that his account had been hacked and that he sincerely apologized to all his fans, as well as to the sexual minorities (LGBT) community.
