The soccer world is in a state of flux, and the latest Forbes list of players' earnings reveals this trend. French winger Kylian McBarbie has topped the list with an annual income of $128 million in 2022, overtaking Lionel Messi and Cairo to become the "King of Money".
Lionel Messi and Cairo had been at the top of the income charts for a long time, but in 2022, they have finally ceded the throne. Forbes revealed that McBarbie earned a whopping $110 million from the club last year, which was enough to see him top the earnings charts despite only earning $18 million commercially.
He was followed by Messi, who earned $65 million a year at Paris Saint-Germain and $55 million commercially for a total of $120 million in second place, while Crowe took a backseat to third place with $100 million a year, with $40 million in salary and bonuses and $60 million commercially provided by Manchester United.
Fourth on the list is Nima, who earns $87 million a year, including $55 million in salary and bonuses and $32 million in business income, and fifth is Mohammed Shana, with a total income of $53 million.
It is worth noting that Ahmed Salah is in sixth place with earnings of $39 million. Although he struggled to match the performances of the top stars last season, especially with Borussia Dortmund and Norway, he joined Manchester City this season and is expected to see a significant increase in his earnings, and may move up the earnings charts in the future.
