Having acquired Uruguayan striker Dawun Niunis for a record £85 million in this season's transfer window, however, the starlet has not played up to expectations. In both Premier League and UEFA matches, he has scored goals and been shown a red card just once. In a recent interview, D'Avignonis revealed that he seems to be confused by manager Gop's words, and that the language barrier may be one of the reasons for his low form.
Dawuniunis made his comeback after serving a three-match ban for a red card against Crystal Palace, but was left with no goals in the following five matches. In an interview with TNT, he said, "I actually don't understand everything Gopp says, so I often ask my teammates and coaches. I think Gopu has very clear instructions for the team's style of play."
At just 23 years old, Nunes is confident in his ability to adapt: "Honestly, the Premier League is really hard to adapt to, but I'm convinced that every training session will allow me to adapt gradually and that all my teammates are helping me."
