In the midst of the summer's transfer frenzy, Japan international Shoya Nakajima moved from Porto to Turkish side Antalya. However, his home debut on Sunday (18) was a tragedy. After just 15 seconds on the bench, he was shown a red card for a reckless tackle, sparking a media frenzy and being hailed as "the worst debut ever". Even more poignant was the fact that Shoya Nakajima's family, who had traveled to the stadium to cheer him on, saw him ejected from the game, leaving his mother in tears in the stands.

Shoya Nakajima, 28, made a name for himself at one point in the Portuguese Premier League, and in 2019, he was spotted and signed by Portuguese Premier League juggernaut Porto. Unfortunately, his performances did not live up to expectations. This summer, he joined Antalya in hopes of starting a new chapter. In Sunday's match against Adana Demirspor, Shoya Nakajima came on as a substitute in the 59th minute of the match, when Antalya was trailing 0-1. However, just 15 seconds later, he kicked an opposing player for an overly aggressive shoveling motion, which originally resulted in a yellow card being shown by the referee, but the referee ultimately changed the decision to a red card with the aid of VAR technology, sending Shoya Nakajima out of the match.
