As the night drew in, a passionate Premier League extravaganza played out in the early hours of Sunday morning (18th) at the home of Tottenham Hotspur. Tottenham crushed Leicester City by a landslide in a 6-2 thriller. Although South Korean striker Son Heung-min was placed on the bench at the start of the match, his substitute appearance was like a fuse, scoring three goals in just 14 minutes to help Spurs equal the club's best start to a season in the history of the Premier League.

Tottenham Hotspur had Son Heung-min on the bench in a rare match, and the two sides fought extremely hard in the first half. Lister City took the lead in the sixth minute through a Terry Vince penalty, but Tottenham quickly went back into the game with two corner kicks, one each from Halikani and Alexandra. Lister City's James Maddison added another goal in the 41st minute to make it 2-2 at half-time.

Just two minutes after the break, Bintangoua scored for Tottenham to make it 3-2, and Lister City came back with a goal in the 59th minute, but the tide turned when they brought on Son Heung-min, who scored three times between the 73rd and 86th minutes to give them a 6-2 win. Heung-min also became the first Spurs player to achieve a hat-trick as a substitute in the Premier League, with the last substitute to achieve this feat in the Premier League dating back to Niemieff in 2015.

Son Heung-min did not celebrate after completing his hat-trick and seemed to express his displeasure at being placed on the bench. However, leader Dryland said after the match, "I am happy for Son Heung-min, you know how highly I rate him. I said to Son Heung-min that if he scores three goals every time he comes off the bench for 30 minutes, maybe I should continue this experiment!" Tottenham started the season with five wins and two draws in seven matches, amassing 17 points, matching their opening season result from the 16/17 season, when Spurs ended up as runners-up.
