Today, the coffin of Queen Elizabeth II was laid out quietly for the world to remember in Westminster Hall in London, England. Former England captain David Beckham also joined the long queue, which lasted 12 hours, to pay his last respects to the Queen along with thousands of people. He said with emotion, "This is a heartbreaking day and a moment to remember forever."
Beckham, 47, appeared in the queue on Friday (16), during which he happily obliged with constant requests from members of the public for photographs. The queue, which began at 2 a.m., lasted 12 hours before he finally stepped into Westminster Hall, where he stood in front of the Queen's coffin, gazing silently with tears in his eyes. "This is a day full of sadness and a day to remember." He said so after the viewing.
"It felt very special to be here, hearing so many different stories and everyone was eager to share bits and pieces about the Queen. I thought there would be fewer people at 2am, but I was very wrong." Beckham recalled when the Queen herself presented him with an OBE in 2003, attending with his grandparents and wife, "It was my moment of glory and I was deeply honored by the Queen talking to me. I was lucky to have that experience in my life. And we all felt her love."
