Chelsea's young right-back, Liz Jimenez, signed a six-year contract extension with the club on Monday (5), which will run until 2028. The new contract will reportedly see Lyszczens earn up to £250,000 a week, making him the highest-paid defender in Chelsea's history, and the second highest-paid wing-back among active players.

Chelsea boss Paulie Elton has implemented a new policy of offering long-term contracts of up to six to seven years for players under the age of 25, according to the Daily Mail. For example, new signing Wesley Cofina signed a seven-year deal, while the likes of Guglielena and Bucha signed six-year deals like Leshjans. Speaking after his contract extension, Mr. Reyes said, "I'm so excited that I'm going to fly, and I want to thank the new management and everyone at the club. I've been a Chelsea supporter since I was 6 years old and I chose to extend my contract because this is where I want to play and I'm sure we'll have the chance to win many trophies in the coming years."

Ljensjens' new contract pays him a whopping £250,000 a week, making him the highest paid defender in the club's history. Only Barcelona's left-back Zodi Aiba (£350,000 a week) earns more than him in the whole of football. And Leeds' teammates Gugu Lena (£175,000 a week) and Chivier (£190,000 a week) are also among the top 10 highest-paid wing-backs of all time.
